Greenwich Police say they were dispatched to the area of Valley Road and Gregory Road in Cos Cob on a report of a motor vehicle accident on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 10:50 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers allegedly located a vehicle with no driver in sight. After checking the area, it was determined that the operator had left the scene of the crash with three children, police say.

While talking with the driver, identified as Nina Castellana, 30, of Stamford, police say they detected the odor of alcohol.

Castellana was asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, which police say she did not pass.

Castellana was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Failure to drive upon right
  • Illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs
  • Evading responsibility

Castellana was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Nov. 4.
