New York Woman Hit, Killed By Out-Of-Control Car In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A driver lost control of a car in Bridgeport, hitting and killing a woman from Far Rockaway, N.Y., and injuring a second male pedestrian early Wednesday, according to the Connecticut Post.

Members of the Bridgeport Police Department ticketed 1,002 people in April for driving while using a mobile phone, according to a press release.

Vivian Smith, 22, and an unidentified 21-year-old man were walking on Stratford Avenue just before 1 a.m. Wednesday when they were hit, the Post said. The driver fled on foot, the story said.
