Sean McLaughlin, address unknown, was arrested at Norwalk Superior Court on Tuesday, Sept. 10, by Westport Police for a June 16, burglary at J&J Car Care Center, said Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso.

The burglary was uncovered around 8:46 a.m., Sunday, June 16, when the business owner reported he discovered someone had forced their way into the building through a bathroom window and stolen numerous high-dollar items including power tools and equipment, police said.

During an extensive investigation, members of the detective bureau learned some of the items had been sold at a local pawn shop. The items were recovered and shown to the victim who positively identified the items, Prezioso said.

The seller of the items was identified through the records of the transactions as being McLaughlin. In an interview with McLaughlin, he admitted to selling the stolen items to contractors along with an accomplice.

McLaughlin, who is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges, was charged with burglary and larceny. His bond was set at $50,000.
