The incident took place Friday evening when Officer Kevin Wells was conducting motor vehicle enforcement on Commerce Drive and stopped a vehicle after a warrant check revealed an active warrant for the registered owner's arrest, said Fairfield Lt. Robert Kalamaras.

After stopping the vehicle, the operator, later identified as Erskine Hall, 40, of Norwalk, gave Wells a fraudulent name. When Wells began to walk back to his patrol vehicle, Hall accelerated and fled the traffic stop.

Officer Wells pursued the vehicle onto several streets in the City of Bridgeport eventually coming to a stop on State Street near Hancock Avenue, Kalamaras said.

Hall then fled on foot and was almost immediately taken into custody by Wells.

A search of the vehicle by K9 Jagger revealed more than four ounces of marijuana in packaging.

Hall was placed under arrest where he was charged with interfering, engaging in pursuit, possession of a controlled substance, and possession W/ intent to sell.

He is being held on a $10,000 bond for the Stamford warrant.
