The person was arrested in the area of North Washington Avenue in Bridgeport.

"We can confirm that ICE agents took a person into custody on an open warrant at approximately 10 a.m., Monday," said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police.

The department was notified by ICE that a person had been detained after the event had taken place, but no other details were provided to the department, Jones said.

“ICE provided notification to the Bridgeport Police Department Monday that their agency had a detainee in custody in Bridgeport,” says Police Chief AJ Perez. “This notification was not a request for assistance."

Perez said the city of Bridgeport Police Department is not cooperating with ICE.

"This police department’s interest has been and remains to be in public safety and the welfare of all of its residents," he said.

The arrest came one day after President Donald Trump said mass deportation raids would take place across the nation.

Calls to ICE regarding the identity of the person arrested were not returned.
