Terrell Evans, 22, of 103 Dorus St., Stratford, was charged with first-degree manslaughter, carrying without a permit, weapons in his motor vehicle, and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
The charges are connected to the death of his friend, Kyree Kennedy, 22, police said. Kennedy was found dead in his car in the middle of the road on Read Street near Beatrice Street at 11:30 p.m. May 2, police said.
Evans was held on $250,000 bond after his arraignment Friday morning in the Golden Hill Street courthouse.
The fight involving over a dozen people broke out after the arraignment as someone called out "killer," the Connecticut Post said. No serious injuries were reported.
Evans accidentally shot Kennedy in the head while the two committed a drive-by shooting of car belonging to an enemy of Kennedy, according to the Post.
Kennedy, who was driving, turned his head as Evans was shooting and was hit, the Post said.
There have been 13 homicides in Bridgeport this year.
