The incident took place around 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18 in the area of the old abandoned Tilcon quarry at 232 Colt Highway in Farmington, said Farmington Police Lt. Timothy S. McKenzie.

Farmington Police received a 911 call from the friend and rushed to the area where they found Steven Price, 71, of Forestville, and his son Mark Price, 30, of Plainville, at the bottom of the cliff.

The friend said on a 911 call that the two were standing by the cliff when the father slipped and the son attempted to grab him, causing both to fall to their deaths

The friend had to escort officers and fire department personnel to the location of the two victims due to the challenging terrain, McKenzie said.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene, he added.

"While this incident appears accidental, detectives from the Farmington Police Department are actively investigating the tragic incident," McKenzie said.

Anyone with information to share about the incident is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Stephen Egan at 860-675-2414.
