Damian Pielesz, 32, was arrested on Sunday, July 21, around 9:08 p.m., after being stopped by Wilton Police for traveling 78 mph in a 40 mph zone in the area of Danbury Road, said the Wilton Police Department.

When officers approached Pielesz's black 2016 Nissan Altima there was allegedly a heavy odor of alcoholic beverage from his breath, police said.

Police said that Pielesz was unable to perform a series of field sobriety tests. A blood alcohol test showed that his level was at 0.22 percent, nearly triple the legal amount of .08 percent, police said.

He was charged with speeding and driving under the influence and released on a promise to appear ticket.

Pielesz is scheduled to appear in court on July 31.
