Errol Johnson, 31, allegedly tied his son's hands, put a shirt over his face and then struck him with the television cord six times, Connecticut Post reported.

A security officer at Columbus School noticed a large welt on the back of the nine-year-old's head, who raised his shirt and revealed a back covered with welts, said Connecticut Post.

Johnson was charged with second-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor, cruelty to persons and unlawful restraint, Connecticut Post reported.

Police allege that Johnson began abusing his son in 2012 while awaiting trial for beating one of his three other children with wires, said Connecticut Post.

Johnson pleaded guilty to third-degree assault in the previous abuse case and received a suspended sentence, two years' probation and an order not to assault or threaten his children, Connecticut Post reported.
