BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Domingos Teixeira, 88, of Bridgeport, the beloved husband of the late Teresa Lage Teixeira, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 in Maefair Health Care, Trumbull with his loving family by his side.
Born Nov. 29, 1926, in Antigo, Portugal, he was the son of the late José and Joaquina Teixeira.
Domingos served in the Portuguese military. He lived in France, Germany and Belgium before settling in the United States in 1974.
He worked many jobs but his true love and passion was being a tailor, which got him the nickname "Alfaite."
Survivors include six children, Leonilde Dinis and husband Fernando of Bridgeport; Amelia Pereira and her husband Tony of Shelton; Ana Maria Lage of Manchester; José Teixeira and his wife Lisa of Trumbull; Delfim Teixeira and wife Isabel of Monroe; and Jacinto Teixeira and his wife Fernanda of Bridgeport. He also is survived by two brothers, Alfredo Teixeira of Antigo, Portugal and Manuel Teixeira of Rio, Brazil. His grandchildren include Jenifer Dinis, her son Jonathan Botelho; Shawn Dinis; Anita Rio, her husband Sal Rio, and her sons Cristiano Rio and AJ Rio; Marcia Pereira; Gabriella Pereira; Stephen Fuller and his wife Sylvia Fuller; David Fuller and his wife Daria Fuller; Michael Teixeira; Mark Teixeira; Amanda Teixeira; Erica Teixeira; Katelyn Teixeira; Christopher Teixeira; Tyler Teixeira; and Kyle Teixeira. He also is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends are invited to attend the a funeral service at 8 a.m. Tuesday in the Parente-Lauro funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport and at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Road, Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home.
