Charles P. Gensur, 71, Bridgeport Resident

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Charles P. Gensur, of Bridgeport, husband of LaNell Costantini Gensur, died Monday, March 28 in Norwalk Hospital. He was 71.

Born Nov. 1, 1944, in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late Joseph and Julia Bruchansky Gensur.

A lifelong Bridgeport resident and U. S. Air Force veteran, he worked as a quality control supervisor at Walbro Automotive in Meriden. He was an avid fan of football, but his true passion was the "game of life." He often entertained those he was surrounded with by his many misadventures from childhood, adulthood, military service and parenthood. Though he never boasted of his duration of military service during the Vietnam War, his service and actions aided in many American soldiers to be rescued from behind enemy lines.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, survivors include two children, LaNell Corso and her husband, James, of Derby, and Christopher Gensur of Bridgeport; three grandchildren, Holly, Anya and Michael; a great-granddaughter, Keely; two sisters, Elaine Paskuna and Sister Dorothy Ann Gensur, both of Florida; a sister-in-law, B.J. Recupero and her husband, Edward, of Stratford; two nieces, Jennifer Mamone and her husband, Chris, and their children, Justin and Paige, and Kim Correia, and her husband, Anthony and their children, Anthony and Marcus.

Relatives and friends may greet the family from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Funeral services will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of The Assumption Church, Fairfield, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 659 Tower Ave., First Floor, Hartford, CT 06112.
