Three Fairfield County men were among five who admitted to their roles in a fraudulent marriage scheme that allowed non-U.S. citizens to receive immigration benefits.

U.S. Attorney John Durham said that  four of the defendants are American citizens who entered into one or more fraudulent marriages with non-citizens, and sponsored each noncitizen's fraudulent application for a “green card.” The fifth defendant is a non-citizen who entered into a fraudulent marriage with a U.S. citizen to obtain green card status.

Durham said that on Feb. 4, Manhattan resident Marvin Williams, 60, pleaded guilty and admitted to entering into four fraudulent marriages with non-citizens, sponsoring all four of their green card applications.

Bridgeport residents Ricky Owen, 39, entered into a pair of fraudulent marriages on March 6; Kenos Noel, 35, admitted to a pair of fraudulent marriages on April 1; and Carl Jarrett, 36 admitted to entering into a fraudulent marriage this week.

The fifth suspect, Dwight Henry, 44, a citizen of Jamaica living in Queens, pleaded guilty to entering a marriage with a U.S. citizen and submitted a fraudulent application for a green card.

Each of the five men was arrested in November last year and have pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit marriage or immigration fraud. Each will face five years in prison when they are sentenced later this year.
