BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport woman, her 9-year-old daughter and another woman were killed early Wednesday when they ran out of gas on I-84 in New York and a tractor-trailer slammed into their car, according to the Daily Freeman.
The accident occurred at about 4 a.m. as the women were calling 911 for help from the right lane of I-84 west between Exits 3 and 2 in Wawayanda, N.Y., shutting down the road until about noon, the Freeman said.
Jesenia Valentin, who was driving, and her 9-year-old daughter, Angelina Rodriguez, were killed; the third victim was not identified, the Freeman said.
Three minutes into the 911 call, the operator heard a crash and a dog yelp before the phone went dead, the Freeman said.
No charges have been filed against the truck driver, who thought the car was moving with its emergency flashers on, the Freeman said.
