BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The WorkPlace is calling on the community to nominate veterans who not only served the country but continue to support stronger communities by volunteering their time and giving back.
This is an opportunity to acknowledge people who selflessly make our communities a better place to live and often go unrecognized, according to a press release.
The WorkPlace is accepting nominations for the person to be given this special honor. In addition to the honors received while serving, past recipients include an educator who went on to become a school principal, a board member at Homes for the Brave, trained emergency first responders and a youth sports coach.
Nomination forms and instructions are available by calling 203-610-8496 or going here.
The selection committee will consist of representatives from Port 5 Naval Veterans, Housatonic Community College, Alpha Community Services, The WorkPlace’s Valor Programs and the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Office for Veteran’s Workforce Development.
There will be a luncheon for the veterans Nov. 1 at Port 5 Naval Veterans in Bridgeport.
The WorkPlace conducts comprehensive planning and coordinates regional workforce development policy and programs to prepare people for careers while strengthening the workforce for employers. For more information, visit www.workplace.org.
