Ted Sperling, who is currently conducting both "Fiddler On The Roof"on Broadway, and rehearsing the national tour of "The King And I," which he conducted at Lincoln Center Theater, will be the guest conductor for this special event.

The first half of the program will present “the real music” from which many movie scores were taken, such as Beethoven’s 7th Symphony featured in "The King’s Speech," Paul Dukas’ "The Sorcerer’s Apprentice" featured in Disney’s "Fantasia," and Samuel Barber’s "Adagio For Strings" featured in classic films such as "The Elephant Man," "Platoon," "Lorenzo’s Oil" and more.

The second half of the concert will feature music made for the movies, including some of John Williams’ most famous musical gems --  themes from "Star Wars," "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Schindler’s List."

The program will also include Harold Arlen’s songs from the "Wizard Of Oz," including favorites such as "Over the Rainbow," and other classics will round out the evening from the world’s most beloved composers, such as Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini, Elmer Bernstein, Max Steiner and much more.

"The concert is a wonderful introduction for young newcomers,” said executive director Mark R. Halstead. "Younger listeners coming to the Greater Bridgeport Symphony for the first time will get an enjoyable introduction into symphonic music through music they've always known, but didn't know they knew."

The concert will be preceded at 7:00 p.m. with a Pre-Concert Talk, which will guide listeners through the music. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.

Single tickets range from $10 - $59 and can be purchased at  www.gbso.org or by calling GBS at (203)-576-0263.

Family discounted rates are available, including 15 percent off for parents/guardians, and kids under age 19 can get tickets for only $10.

The Klein Memorial Auditorium is at  910 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport. Ample free lighted parking will be available on the night of the concert.

Additionally, the GBS will host the musicale, “Remembering Gustave" to celebrate the life and legacy of late conductor Gustav Meier, on Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Pequot Library in Southport.

Meier, who conducted the GBS from 1972 to 2013, died on May 26. He was 86.
