Rodolfo Nieves, 60, was sentenced to 40 years in prison followed by five years of special parole for multiple sexual assault charges involving two minors, the State's Attorney's Office said.
Both victims were children when the abuse began but are now adults. The crimes took place between 2001 and 2016, the prosecutor said.
A jury found Nieves guilty of several serious charges in January, including sexual assault, attempt to commit sexual assault, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor, police said.
According to evidence presented at trial, Nieves abused the victims repeatedly over the years.
“This case demonstrates that we will diligently pursue crimes against children when the evidence supports it, despite the lapse of time," said State’s Attorney Joseph T. Corradino. "People who commit sexual abuse of children should know that their past will catch up to them and they will be held accountable for the harm they have inflicted on vulnerable innocents.”
