Omar Nelson was arrested in Bridgeport on Thursday, May 4 for the Wednesday, Jan. 4 murder of 30-year-old Kentel Robinson at approximately 6 a.m., according to the New Haven Police Department.
In New Haven in January, police responded to the scene of a shooting on Chapel Street and found Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital and died of his injuries three days later.
New Haven detectives determined that Nelson, a convicted felon, murdered Robinson.
US Marshals were recruited to help with the case in early spring after New Haven detectives suspected that Nelson was attempting to elude capture.
Nelson was captured by US Marshalls on a warrant that charged him with murder. He was also charged with criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.
Nelson was placed on $2 million bond after his arraignment on Thursday.
