During his time writing for newspapers, magazines, and online publications, he’s covered everything from murderers to mommy bloggers, but his most interesting story is always the next one.

$1M Lottery Jackpot: Gloucester Man Knows How He'll Spend His Major Payday A Gloucester man said he has big plans for the $1 million jackpot he won playing the Massachusetts State Lottery.  Edward Fortado won the seven-figure payday by playing the $50 scratch-off game "Lifetime Millions." Fortado chose to take the lump sum payment of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity.  He said he would invest his winnings.  Fortado bought the ticket at 7-Eleven at 48 Maplewood Ave. in Gloucester. The store will get a $10,000 bonus for the sale.

Mass General Medical Assistant Groped Patient During Unnecessary Physical Exam: DA A 29-year-old medical assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital is accused of groping a patient during an exam that her doctor had not requested or approved, authorities said.  Leonardo Hernandez, of Jamaica Plain, is charged with indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said. A judge ordered him to stay away from the hospital and the alleged victim as part of his release on personal recognizance.  The patient called Boston police on April 12 to report the alleged incident that she said happened several weeks earlier.  …

Man Busted In Fatal Central Street Shooting A 62-year-old man has been charged with the fatal shooting over the weekend in Springfield, authorities said.  Juan Rivera, of Springfield, was charged with murder in the Saturday, June 1, slaying, the Hampden District Attorney's Office said.  Police were alerted to the fatal shooting just after 10:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Central Street after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. Woman Hit, Killed Walking In Springfield A woman was hit and killed on Monday morning, June 3, as she walked along a road in Springfield.  The crash was reported around 4:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Wilbraham Road, Springfield police said. The woman died at the scene. Her name was not released as police reached out to her next of kin.  The driver stayed at the scene and spoke with police, investigators said.  No charges have been filed, but police are investigating the cause of the fatal crash.  This is a developing story. $100,000 Lottery Ticket Sold In Methuen It was a lucky weekend for one Bay Stater after they won a $100,000 jackpot in the Massachusetts State Lottery.  The winner correctly guessed all five numbers in the Mass Cash drawing on Sunday, June 2. Those were: 4, 10, 13, 23, 31.  The winner's name was not released.  They bought the ticket at Plaza Liquors at 182 Haverhill St. in Methuen. Canister Explodes In Car Trunk, Sends 1 To Hospital In Holden With Serious Injuries A man was rushed to the hospital on Saturday morning, June 1, after a canister of acetylene exploded in a car trunk at a home in Worcester County, authorities said.  The explosion was reported at 216 Brattle Street in Holden Saturday morning after the tank blew.
