Girlfriend Conspired To Rob, Kill Boyfriend In Norristown: DA
The ambush killing of William Carter in Norristown on Jan. 20 was orchestrated in part by his own girlfriend, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.
Katherine Emel, 29, of Plymouth Meeting, is charged with second-degree murder, robbery, and conspiracy, prosecutors said.
Carter was visiting the mother of his child on Powell Street when he went outside to grab money from his Buick LeSabre, investigators said in the criminal complaint. The 35-year-old had recently won $3,000 from sports betting, authorities wrote.

Lamont Reveals How Much CT Collected From Sports Betting, Online Gaming In October
In the first few weeks after Connecticut launched sports betting and online casino gaming, the state collected about $1.7 million.
Between the soft launch on Tuesday, Oct. 12, through Sunday, Oct. 31, Connecticut collected about $513,000 from sports betting and $1.2 million from online casino gaming, Gov. Ned Lamont announced on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
