Two alleged gang members have been formally charged in connection with a drive-by shooting at a Long Island home that injured a child.
Ersen Kumas, age 19, of Middle Island, was arraigned on assault and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, April 4.
Prosecutors said Kumas and 22-year-old Anthony Peña, of Coram – both alleged members of the Gorilla Stone Blood Gang – took part in a drive-by shooting at a Medford home located on Cedar Avenue early on July 26, 2023.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection to nearly a dozen Long Island business burglaries and an attempted burglary.
Following an investigation by Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives, Frank Costa, age 54, of Port Jefferson, and Jon Pucci, age 29, of Middle Island, were apprehended in Centereach for allegedly committing the following burglaries during which cash and cigarettes were stolen:

Fatal Crash: 31-Year-Old From Medford ID'd As Victim Near Coram Intersection
A 31-year-old has been identified as the victim of a fatal overnight crash near an intersection on Long Island.
It happened just after 10:05 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16 in Coram.
The victim was walking in the roadway of Middle Country Road, near Martin Street, when he was struck by an eastbound 2011 Cadillac SRX4, Suffolk County Police said.
The man, identified as Evan Espinosa, age 31, of Medford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Cadillac, a 38-year-old man from Port Jefferson Station, was not injured.

Two women were arrested for prostitution during a raid at a Long Island massage parlor.
In response to numerous community complaints, authorities conducted an investigation at BBP Enterprises in Coram, located at 356 Middle Country Road, Suite 301 Monday, July 3 at about 3:30 p.m.
Following an investigation by Suffolk County Police, Yanfang Gao, age 41, and Geng Hua Zhu, age 42, both of Flushing, Queens, were arrested and charged with unauthorized practice of a profession.

Sobriety Checkpoint: 3 Charged During Overnight Detail In Port Jefferson Station
Three people are facing charges after an overnight sobriety checkpoint at the start of the July 4th holiday on Long Island.
Authorities conducted the operation in Port Jefferson Station at the corner of Route 112, at Hallock Avenue, from 11:40 p.m. Friday, June 30 until 2:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1.
A total of 414 vehicles went through the checkpoint, Suffolk Couty Police said.
The following were charged with driving while intoxicated:

Fiery Crash: Good Samaritans, Off-Duty Cop Save Victims From Burning Vehicle In Farmingville
An off-duty police officer and two Good Samaritans saved two people from their burning car after a Long Island car crash, authorities announced.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 24 in Farmingville.
Maribel Ramirez, aged 45, of Coram, was driving a 2014 Honda northbound on Country Road 83, near South Bicycle Path.
At approximately 5:20 a.m., Ramirez’s car hit a guard rail and overturned.

Janell Funderburke, age 20, of Coram, was formally arraigned on over a dozen criminal charges, including aggravated attempted murder, in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, May 25.
