Duo From Port Jefferson, Middle Island Nabbed For String Of Suffolk County Business Burglaries
Two suspects have been arrested in connection to nearly a dozen Long Island business burglaries and an attempted burglary.
Following an investigation by Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives, Frank Costa, age 54, of Port Jefferson, and Jon Pucci, age 29, of Middle Island, were apprehended in Centereach for allegedly committing the following burglaries during which cash and cigarettes were stolen:

Bohemia Man Sentenced For Possessing Nearly 1 Kilo Of Cocaine, Semi-Automatic Pistol
A 45-year-old Long Island man who was found in possession of nearly one kilogram of cocaine and a semi-automatic pistol has been sentenced.
Christopher Reece, of Bohemia, was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced on Monday, Nov. 28.
On Thursday, Aug. 25, he pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, the Da's Office said.

Holbrook Man Accused Of Hitting Officer With Car, Robbing Gas Stations
A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer after committing an armed robbery.
The incident took place in Islandia and Bohemia on Thursday, Sept. 29.
According to Suffolk County Police, Joshua Basile entered Quick Chek Gas Station, located at 3540 Veterans Memorial Highway in Bohemia, and stole assorted food, then fled in a 2022 Ford Explorer, at 1:35 a.m.

Suspect In String Of Business Burglaries Caught On Long Island Expressway In Dix Hills
A suspect in a string of nine burglaries of businesses in Suffolk County was apprehended after a stop on the Long Island Expressway, police said.
Following a months-long investigation, the suspect was located just after 10:10 p.m. Friday, July 22 in Dix Hills on the westbound LIE at Commack Road, Suffolk County Police.
The man, Robert Blackmore, age 54, of Ronkonkoma, threw a rock at the glass, entered and stole cash from several businesses in Suffolk County since January, according to police.

Father, Daughter Wanted In Girl Scout Cookie Scam In Suffolk
Police in New York are reporting they have received at least 11 complaints from residents who said they gave to buy Girl Scouts cookies that were never delivered.
The incidents on Long Island were reported to Suffolk County Police between Saturday, June 18, and Monday, June 20, the department said.
Police say the alleged cookie scam took place in the following communities: Lake Ronkonkoma, Bohemia, and Patchogue, to Shirley to Mastic.
The money was given to a man who accompanied a young girl during some of the incidents, and in others, the girl was alone, police said.

A medical center on Long Island has begun offering the newly-authorized lower dose COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5 to 11.

Police Investigation String Of Burglaries At Long Island Businesses
Police detectives are investigating a string of overnight burglaries that occurred at Long Island businesses.
The burglaries happened from Thursday, Sept. 23 to Thursday, Oct. 7 in Suffolk County.
During the "smash-and-grab" burglaries, a man breaks a window or glass door, enters the business, and steals cash, said police.
Suffolk County Police say they occurred at the following locations:

Long Island Woman Rescued By Good Samaritans After Car Crashes Into Tree, Bursts Into Flames
A woman who was trapped in her burning car after it crashed into a tree was rescued by good Samaritans on Long Island.
Becky Boeckmann, age 35, of Bohemia, was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6 eastbound in Islandia on Express Drive South, near Enter Lane, when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree at approximately 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, Suffolk County Police said.
The vehicle then caught fire, according to police.
The three good Samaritans, including two off-duty members of the Central Islip Fire Department, were passing by and stopped to help Boeckmann, said police.

Man, Woman Nabbed For Stealing Pocketbooks At Long Island Supermarkets, Police Say
A Long Island man and woman have been arrested after a vehicle crash when it was discovered they allegedly stole multiple pocketbooks from women at area supermarkets.
Suffolk County Police said Tariasha Smith, age 25, of West Babylon, was driving a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta at the Lidl supermarket parking lot, in Oakdale, on Wednesday, Julyy 28, when she noticed a woman left her pocketbook in a shopping cart, while she was putting her groceries in her car.
Smith’s front-seat passenger, Robert Hengeveld, age 50, grabbed the pocketbook from Smith’s vehicle, according to police.

Missing 15-Year-Old Long Island Boy Found
Update:
A 15-year-old Long Island boy who went missing has been found.
Michael Tyler Peterson, who goes by Tyler, had last been seen leaving his Sayville residence at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, Suffolk County Police said, in issuing a Silver Alert.
Earlier Wednesday morning, June 30, police announced he has been located, unharmed.
