27-Year-Old Man Killed In Alcohol-Fueled Rockingham County Crash: State Police A 27-year-old man died in a Rockingham County crash that police say may have involved alcohol. Justin L. McGuire, of New Market, was heading north on Route 11/North Valley Pike when he crossed the centerline in a Toyota Tacoma, ran off the roadway and struck a tree around 2:10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, Virginia State Police said. McGuire, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol is considered a factor in the crash, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

2 Vehicles Hit, Kill Pedestrian On Garden State Parkway Ramp, Police Say A 46-year-old pedestrian trying to cross an exit ramp off the Garden State Parkway was killed by passing cars over the weekend. Mohammed Uddin was crossing the Exit 123 ramp in Sayreville around 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 31, when he was struck by a Dodge SUV and Buick SUV, heading south near milepost 124.6, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Uddin, of Old Bridge, was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.

Fraudster Contractor Arrested In Bucks County, Authorities Say A fraudster has been arrested in Bucks County after police said he scammed a client out of money. Walter Charles Porter Jr. accepted a payment for hardscape work in April 2021 under "Walts Outdoor Living Spaces," Bedminster police said. As of April 2024, Porter never completed the work, nor did he provide, materials or a refund to the victims when asked multiple times over the years, police said. Thief Steals Minivan With 11-Year-Old Girl Inside In Philadelphia, Police Say An 11-year-old girl was inside of her family minivan when a car thief stole it in Philadelphia, police said. A 24-year-old man took the blue Honda Odyssey with the girl inside at 2600 N 16th St., around 1:35 p.m. Saturday, June 1, police said. The girl and the vehicle were safely recovered at 3200 Randolph Street. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. There were no injuries to the girl. Police said further details were expected to be released.

Motorcyclist Killed In Overnight NJ Crash, Police Say A motorcyclist was killed in a late-night crash in Somerset County, police said. Police responding to reports of a crash on Easton Avenue near DeMott Lane in Franklin Township found a crashed motorcycle around 12:15 a.m. Saturday, June 1, Franklin Township Police Lt. Vincent T. Former Newark Officer Sentenced To State Prison In Shooting Death During Pursuit A former Newark police officer who shot and killed a driver during a pursuit and critically injured his passenger was sentenced to 27 years in New Jersey State Prison. Jovanny Crespo, 30, must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he's eligible for parole. Essex County Superior Court Judge Michael L. Ravin Jr. imposed the sentence under the No Early Release Act.
