A car crashed into a security barrier along 15th Street NW near the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue on Monday afternoon, shutting down some roads in the area, a Secret Service spokesperson confirmed. Deputies responded to a report of an overnight burglary at a deli in the Town of Beekman at about 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. Following a home burglary in New Canaan in which the family was away on vacation, police are asking residents to be sure and secure their residences. The burglary was discovered around 10:51 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at a home on Route 106 (Silvermine Road) when the family returned from vacation and found they had been the target of thieves, said New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski.
