'Deplorable Conditions': 103 Animals Rescued From Woodstock Home, Owner Charged
A Connecticut home was described as a house of horrors for the more than 100 animals that were trapped inside and with limited access to food, water, and clean air, authorities said. The conditions were so bad that veterinarians had to euthanize four of the dogs that were rescued because they were so sick.
Windham County resident Tracy Donovan, age 59, of Woodstock, was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 21, and charged with 103 counts of animal cruelty, Connecticut State Police said. According to court records, she was being held on a $150,000 bond.

Investigators have identified the three people killed in a Sunday, Jan. 14, plane crash in Franklin County as a student pilot, his instructor, and the owner of a flight school.

William Hampton, age 68, of Indian Orchard

A Massachusetts business owner from northern Connecticut will spend time in prison for tax fraud after failing to report just under $1 million in income for several years, federal officials said.

A business owner from Connecticut has admitted he failed to report more than $900,000 in income on his personal federal tax returns.
Windham County resident Mariusz Kalinowski, age 47, of Woodstock, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Nov. 29, to one count of filing a false tax return, according to Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States attorney for the District of Connecticut.

A quick-moving storm system has knocked out power to thousands of Connecticut residents.
Wind gusts as high as around 60 miles per hour have resulted in downed trees and tree limbs, with eastern Connecticut most heavily affected.

A Connecticut man has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for distributing cocaine and crack cocaine.
Windham County resident Andre Smith, also known as "Dre", age 42, of Woodstock, was sentenced on Thursday, Jan. 13, said Leonard C Boyle, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
