Seaside Heights Voters Reject Merger With Toms River School District: Unofficial Results
Seaside Heights voters rejected a plan to merge the island borough's school district with the Toms River Regional School District.
According to unofficial results, 232 voters in Seaside Heights voted "no" on the merger, while 167 voters said "yes" in the referendum on Tuesday, Apr. 16. The plan would have eventually closed the Seaside district's only school Hugh J. Boyd, Jr. Elementary School.

Two men from Ocean County have been charged with multiple offenses in connection with a fatal shooting, authorities said.
Craig Dillard, 56, of Berkeley Township, has been charged with possession of a firearm, several drug offenses, and tampering with evidence, said Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer alongside Berkeley Township Police Chief Kevin Santucci.

A 32-year-old Ocean County man has been sentenced to state prison for fatally shooting another man in South Toms River, authorities said Monday.
Marcus Samuels, of South Toms River, previously pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of Willie Love, 27, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said in a release.
Samuels was behind the wheel of a 2004 Dodge Nitro when he pulled up to a vehicle driven by Love, of Beachwood, and fatally shot him near the Community Medical Center on June 8, 2015, Billhimer said.

A 32-year-old man from South Toms River has admitted fatally shooting another Ocean County man six years ago, authorities said.
Marcus Samuels, 32, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and witness tampering, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
Samuels also admitted to an unrelated charge of aggravated assault, authorities said.
Samuels' pleas came Friday in connection with the May 2015 shooting death of Willie Love, 27, of Beachwood, in Seaside Heights, the prosecutor said.

Law enforcement agents arrested seven people and seized heroin, ecstasy thousands of dollars in cash, and a firearm following a massive Ocean County drug bust, authorities said.
Detectives from several SWAT teams and law enforcement agencies executed search warrants were executed March 31 at two Toms River homes and a room at the Ocean view Inn, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
The searches turned up approximately 3,210 wax folds of heroin, 52 ecstasy pills, a loaded .38 caliber revolver, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $11,700 in cash, Billhimer said.

A 49-year-old man from Ocean County has been arrested in connection with a serious DWI crash, authorities said.
William Andujar, 49, of Whiting, has been charged with aggravated assault and assault by auto, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
The crash occurred in Berkeley Township on Nov. 2, Billhimer said.

An internet tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led to the arrest of a South Toms River man on child pornography charges -- and more, authorities said.
Kevin Carrieri, 33, also was charged with trying to traffic a child for sex, possessing an illegal weapon and drug possession and dealing charges after Ocean County law enforcement officials searched his home on a warrant, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said in a statement.

Anthony DeGraw, 33, Lodi Native Leaves Behind Wife And Daughter
Anthony DeGraw of Beachwood died Thursday. He was 33 years old.
Born in Wayne, he grew up in Lodi and graduated from Lodi High School in 2005. He met his future wife, Krystal Anderson, in middle school in Lodi. The couple moved to Beachwood in 2017.
He worked as a granite installer, most recently for Progress Dimensions in South Toms River. A devoted New York Giants fan, he was also a hunter and outdoorsman who enjoyed motorcycle and quad riding.
