'Mistaken Identity' Led To Father's Killing In Backyard Of Long Island Home, DA Says
A case of mistaken identity led to a husband and father being gunned down in the backyard of his Long Island home, prosecutors said.
Oliver Schor, age 22, and Christopher Fernandez, age 28, both of Sound Beach, were formally arraigned on murder charges in Suffolk County Court on Friday, Aug. 9, in the fatal shooting of Michael Hartmann.
According to prosecutors, Fernandez and Schor were armed with rifles when they showed up at Hartmann’s Bohemia residence, located just south of the Sunrise Highway on Smithtown Avenue, at around 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2022.

Late Tuesday night, July 30, Suffolk County Police announced the arrests following an investigation that lasted more than a year-and-a-half after the incident in the fall of 2022.

Marinelli’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, located at 257 Echo Ave. in Sound Beach, officially opened for business on Friday, Oct. 28.

Long Island Man Indicted For String Of Burglaries, ATM Theft, DA Says
A Long Island man faces up to 15 in prison for a string of alleged commercial burglaries in November 2020.
Kieran Fichtner, age 27, of St. James, was arraigned last week on charges associated with the burglaries, as well as for the alleged theft of an ATM machine along with an accomplice, an accomplice, Michael Parise, 46, of Stony Brook, said Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini.

IDs Released For Driver Killed, Passenger Seriously Injured In Long Island Crash
The identities have been released for the driver killed and the passenger seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Long Island.
The crash took place in Nassau County around 2:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, on the Wantagh Parkway near Exit W6 in the Town of Hempstead.
The driver, Carlos Arancibia, 61, of Sound Beach, was driving a 1991 Mitsubishi 3000 when he lost control of the vehicle and exited the roadway continuing into the brush and striking a tree on the driver side door, state police said.
Arancibia succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to police.

A man and woman are facing charges after they were involved in a motor vehicle crash in a stolen car on Long Island, police said.
Suffolk County Police Seventh Precinct officers responded to Estate Court in Sound Beach after a 911 caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in the street at approximately 5:11 p.m. Friday, July 12.
