510-Acre Wildfire Contained At Wharton State Forest (Updated) Firefighters had contained a 510-acre wildfire at Wharton State Forest in Burlington and Camden counties early Thursday, April 25, authorities said. The fire had burned along Jackson Road in Shamong and Waterford townships, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. Jackson Road reopened at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24. Forest Fire Service staff will remain on scene and continue to monitor control lines and address areas of concern until significant precipitation occurs to ensure public safety, they said. Driver Killed In Crash With Pickup Truck In South Jersey An 84-year-old man was killed when his car was hit by a pickup truck in Burlington County, authorities said. Rodger Carney of Medford was turning left from westbound Tuckerton Road onto Marquette Drive when a pickup truck traveling east struck his vehicle at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Medford police said. The pickup truck was driven by Gregory Girard, 40, of Shamong, who suffered a minor injury, police said. Carney was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden where he was pronounced dead. No charges had been filed in the crash which remained under investigation.

She was 38 years old. "Ashley was a proud mom, and could always be seen and heard on the sidelines of any sports her two sons were involved in," her obituary said. Ashley lived in Shamong for most of her life. She was a 2003 graduate of Shawnee High School in Medford. Curtis is described as a white male, 5’8”, 130 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing khaki pants, a blue sweater, white tee-shirt, and gray shoes.
