Woman Dies After Jumping From Bridge In Area
A woman was killed after jumping from an area bridge.
Dutchess County resident Nicole H. Gill, age 53, of Red Hook, was killed after jumping from the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge on Monday, March 8, said AJ Hicks of the New York State Police.
According to Hicks, the department responded to a report of a suicide attempt at the bridge around 4:20 p.m.
State police, along with the town of Ulster Police Department, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the town of Red Hook Police Department, and the Rhinebeck Fire Department responded to the bridge for a recovery effort, he said.

House Built In 1900 At Total Loss Following Three-Alarm Fire In Area
A three-alarm fire destroyed a 120-year-old home in Dutchess County.
The Milan and Red Hook fire department responded to the fire around 1:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11 at a home located at 345 Fitzsimmons Road, in Milan on the Columbia County Line with Dutchess County, said the Milan Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy smoke and heavy fire from the ground through the roof, the department said.
Firefighters quickly worked to tamper down any exposures to the garage, a barn, vehicles, and a camper trailer that were heating up.

One Seriously Injured In Pair Of Rhinebeck Crashes
One person received life-threatening injuries in a pair of vehicle crashes in Rhinebeck.
The first crash took place around 1:47 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, on Slate Quarry Road, said Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Capt. John Watterson.
A preliminary investigation of the crash has revealed that at a 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by Vincent Dillard, 56, of Warwarsing, in Ulster County, was traveling westbound on Slate Quarry Road when he lost control on a sharp curve, struck an earth embankment and came to rest in a driveway near White School House Road, Watterson said.&n…
ID Released For 20-Year-Old Woman Killed In Dutchess Crash
The identity of a woman who was killed in a two-vehicle crash that caused the closure of a stretch of Route 9G on Friday night has been released.
The crash occurred at approximately 6 p.m., in the area of Vlei Road in the town of Rhinebeck.
Initial investigation suggests Robert J. Dancy, 35, of Worchester, New York, operating a 1997 Ford Explorer, was traveling southbound on Route 9G, and drove to the left of the center lane markings. Dancy then struck Emily R. Wootton, 20, of Milton, Vermont, who was driving northbound, operating a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, state police said.
