$1,000,000 Powerball Prize Split Between Long Island Friend Group
Talk about good friends.
Nine Long Island pals have claimed their lottery winnings, lottery officials announced.
The group of friends, all from Westbury, split their respective shares of a $1 million Powerball second prize on Friday, April 14, the New York Lottery reported.
The winning numbers for the drawing, which occurred on Friday, January 13, were 30-43-45-46-61 and Powerball 14.
Each friend took their payment as a single lump sum after required withholdings, according to lottery officials.

Wantagh Man Accused Of Robbing TD Bank In Plainview
A 54-year-old man was charged after police reported that he robbed a bank on Long Island.
The robbery happened at TD Bank, located at 500 Old Country Road in Plainview, at about 2:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, the Nassau County Police Department said.
NCPD said Dean Marneris, of Wantagh, approached a teller and demanded money.
When the teller questioned him, Marneris motioned as though he had a gun in his waistband, police reported.

An accidental shooting led to a chain of events that ended with a four-vehicle crash that included a Nassau County Police officer, authorities said.
The first incident happened around 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, when Brian Gregg, 25, of Plainview, was inside a Plainview home while cleaning a handgun when he allegedly accidentally discharged the weapon striking a 17-year-old friend of his stepbrother in the neck, police said.

ID Released For Woman Struck, Killed By Car On Old Country Road In Plainview
The identity of the 80-year-old woman who was killed after being struck by a car while crossing Old Country Road in Plainview has been released.
The incident happened just after 5 p.m.on Thursday, July 11, Nassau County Police said.
According to detectives, the woman, now identified as Annette Katz of Naples, Florida, was hit by a 2017 Hyundai, which was traveling westbound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Nassau County AMT.
The driver of the vehicle, a 66-year-old male, remained at the scene and was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Nation's Largest Mattress Retailer Will Close 700 Stores
Mattress Firm, the nation's largest mattress retailer, will close 700 stores nationwide, including four in New York, after filing for bankruptcy.
It has more than 3,200 stores and nearly 10,000 employees in the U.S. and in recent years had aggressively expanded its retail footprint.
That rapid expansion of stores, including locations often close to each other, resulted in "cannibalization" of sales, the company said.
