James Halbig, Army Veteran, Sandyston Resident, Dies At 52
James Halbig, a Sandyston Township resident, died on Sunday, Feb. 4, at Morristown Medical Center, according to his obituary.
Born in Dover, Halbig grew up in Denville and graduated Morris Knolls High School, his obituary reads. He joined the United States Army, serving multiple tours in Germany and the Middle East, including Desert Storm, according to his obituary. He settled in Sandyston and worked as a mechanic at Sussex County Rental Center in Andover, his obituary reads.

Mark Antwain Costin of Vineland lived and died a hero.
His final act of heroism came on Labor Day, while trying to save his 12-year-old future step-daughter from drowning at the beach in Strathmere.
Costin's fiancé, Melissa Metcalf, told 6abc they planned a last-minute trip to the beach in Cape May County on Labor Day, Sept. 4.

A central Pennsylvania fort is the busiest National Guard training center in the United States, according to an official release by the military.
Fort Indiantown Gap, which covers over 17,000 acres in northern Lebanon and Dauphin counties, is the nation’s top training center for the second year in a row and fifth time in the last seven years, based on the release.

Yale Murder Suspect Nabbed In Alabama
United States Marshals have arrested a man believed to be responsible for the February shooting death of a Yale grad student in Connecticut.
Qinxuan Pan, age 29, an MIT researcher, was arrested on Friday, May 14, in Montgomery, Alabama, US Marshals said. They did not say where in Montgomery he was found.
Pan is the prime suspect in the shooting death of Kevin Jiang, age 26, who was shot to death on Lawrence Street between Nicoll and Nash streets in New Haven on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Following a slow rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine in New York, the state now finds itself waiting on the federal government to distribute additional allocations to Long Island and other regions.
