Ersen Kumas, age 19, of Middle Island, was arraigned on assault and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, April 4.

Following an investigation, authorities executed a search warrant at a home in Middle Island on Thursday, March 28.
Suffolk County Police detectives arrested Brian Kazmierowski, age 35, of Middle Island, at 6:15 p.m. Friday, April 5, for exchanging material using a peer-to-peer file-sharing system.
Kazmierowski was charged with:

Police have arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a crash that killed a person on Long Island.
It happened in Coram around 11:50 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 6 on Middle Country Road.
According to Suffolk County Police, Derrick Kindle, age 30, of Middle Island, was driving a 2008 Nissan Sentra eastbound on Middle Country Road, east of Country Club Drive, when he struck Gerald Smith, age 68, of Farmingville.
