A Long Island man angered over an impending breakup shot his girlfriend to death inside her penthouse apartment, a jury found.
Mark Small, age 57, of Elmont, was found guilty of murder and related charges in Nassau County Court on Thursday, Sept. 26, in the death of 39-year-old Marivel Estevez.
Prosecutors said Small entered Estevez’s penthouse apartment at the Allure Mineola apartment complex on Old Country Road sometime overnight on July 28, 2022.

Long Island Expressway Crash: 38-Year-Old Killed In Collision With Tractor-Trailer
A 38-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on the Long Island Expressway that snarled traffic for hours during the morning commute.
The crash happened at around 3:15 a.m. Monday, June 12, in the westbound lanes of I-495 in Hauppauge.
According to Suffolk County Police, Brian Nieves, of Bay Shore, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the middle westbound lane when he struck the rear end of a tractor-trailer near Exit 56.
Nieves, who was alone, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, police said.

A 23-year-old man was charged with driving while intoxicated after authorities said he struck an SUV on the Long Island Expressway, seriously injuring two people.
The crash happened at about 4:10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26, in Manorville.
Segundo Daquilema Lluilema, of Corona, was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla on the westbound side, east of Exit 70, when he changed lanes and struck the rear of the 2007 Toyota Highlander, Suffolk County Police Department said.

With New York combating the first big snowstorm of 2021, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in the Hudson Valley.
On Monday, Feb. 1, Cuomo declared a state of emergency in Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, and three other New York counties as several more inches of snow are expected to fall over the course of the late morning and afternoon.
