14-Year-Old Lakeview Boy Missing Nearly 2 Weeks Among Long Island Teens Located Safe
A 14-year-old boy gone for nearly two weeks was among three Long Island teenagers who were found safe after relatives reported them missing.
Edwin Palacios Umana, age 14, had last been seen at his Lakeview residence on Wadleigh Avenue at around 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5.
On Sunday, Aug. 18, Nassau County Police said Umana was located. No other details were given.
Police also announced that the following teens, previously reported missing, had been located:
Autumn McDegganlee, age 14, of Freeport; Reported missing on Tuesday, Aug. 13, and located Sunday, aug. 18

Man Nabbed For Burglary, Injuring Gas Station Employee On Long Island: Police
A Long Island man was arrested after he broke into a gas station, injuring an employee in the process, police said.
It happened on Monday, Oct. 9 in Lakeview, according to Nassau County Police.
At approximately 2:40 a.m., Oceanside resident John Masone, age 55, walked up to the Exxon gas station located at 820 Hempstead Avenue and tried to get inside.
An employee at the gas station told Masone that they were closed. However, this did not stop him.
Police said he became agitated and broke the gas station’s front door.

A home health aide and another woman have been charged with stealing money from an elderly Long Island woman.
Nassau County Police announces the arrests of the two Lakeview women on Saturday, Nov. 21 for incidents that occurred in August.
According to detectives, on Monday, Aug. 17, at about 9:30 a.m., Kiondra Bullocks-Bassoo, 33, who is the home health aide of the 76-year-old woman, deposited two forged checks which belonged to the victim into a Capitol One Bank account.

Covid-19: Long Island Sees Slight Uptick In Cases, Here's Breakdown By Towns
Long Island has seen a slight uptick in positive COVID-19 cases though statewide numbers continue trending in the right direction.
There have now been 44,924 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nassau, and 45,006 in Suffolk as each county saw less than 100 new cases in the latest numbers provided by the state Department of Health.
There have been 2,198 COVID-19 fatalities in Nassau and 2,005 in Suffolk.
On Long Island, the positive infection rate over the past three days:
Monday, Aug. 31: 1.0 percent;
Tuesday, Sept. 1: 0.8 percent;
Wednesday, Sept. 2: 1.1 percent.

Wanted Long Island Man Nabbed Months After Attacking Victim, Causing Brain Trauma, Police Say
A Long Island man wanted for more than six months for an assault was nabbed by police.
Anthony Brown, 31, of Hempstead, was arrested for an assault that took place on Sunday, July 14, 2019, in Lakeview, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, the male victim, 34, was standing outside of a Nissan having a conversation with the occupants.
That's when Brown allegedly approached the victim from behind and struck him with an unknown object, police said.
The victim suffered a fractured skull, brain trauma and was transported to an area hospital.
