Knife Fight At Waterbury High School, 11 Students Charged: Police
Multiple students were arrested after police said they got into a knife fight at a Waterbury high school on Wednesday, May 28.
The fight broke out just before noon at John F. Kennedy High School, 422 Highland Ave. The school resource officer, with help from other Waterbury police, broke up the attack, officials said.
Several students suffered minor injuries in the fight, but the school nurse was able to treat their wounds without further assistance, Waterbury police said.

A fight at a Connecticut high school ended in charges for four people earlier this week.
Police were called to John F. Kennedy High School in Waterbury around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, to reports of a fight, authorities said.
Officers arrived to find a brawl between multiple people, which they and school staff quickly broke up, Waterbury police said.
Jasiel Berrios, 19, of Waterbury, was charged with threatening and breach of peace, and three juveniles were arrested for breach of peace. One of them also collected an interfering with an officer count, police said. …
Pat Kramer, Longtime Paterson Mayor, Dies At 90
Lawrence Francis "Pat" Kramer, who spent almost his entire life in Paterson, the city where he served as mayor for 12 years, died on Thursday, Aug. 24. He was 90 years old.
Kramer grew up on East 42nd Street and 18th Avenue, and attended what is now John F. Kennedy High School. After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Kramer ran on the Republican ticket for mayor, and was elected in 1966.
Kramer's first term of mayor was from 1967 to 1972, before he was asked to head up the Commission of Public Affairs. Following that stint, he ran for mayor again, serving from 1975 to 1982. H…
'This Is Us' Star Ron Cephas Jones, Of Paterson, Dies At 66
Ron Cephas Jones, a Paterson native who won two Emmys for his role on "This is Us", died on Sunday, Aug. 19 at the age of 66.
Jones attended John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson and graduated from Ramapo College. He starred in movies like "He Got Game," "Sweet and Lowdown" and "Across the Universe" and guest starred on "Law and Order," "NYPD Blue" and "Mr. Robot."
"This is Us" which premiered in 2016, was Jones signature role. He played William Hill, who reconnects with his son, who was given up for adoption as a newborn. Jones was nominated for four Emmys, winning two in 2018 and 2020.…
These Long Island High School Seniors Named Regeneron Scholars
Thirty-eight high school seniors on Long Island are among the top 300 scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2023, regarded as the nation’s oldest and most prestigious scholastic science and math competition, the Society for Science announced on Tuesday, Jan. 10.The 300 will be awarded $2,000 each and their schools will be awarded $2,000 for each enrolled scholar.
The Regeneron Science Talent Search scholars were selected from 1,949 applications from 627 high schools across 48 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and four other countries.
