Police have identified the victim and suspected killer in a Culpeper County hostage situation that began Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Harrison L. Jackson, 47, of Barboursville, is believed to have killed Jolanda M. Frye, 47, of Culpeper, sometime during the eight-hour standoff that began around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Virginia State Police said.

Lower Merion police say a carjacker took a township resident hostage at gunpoint, and that the suspect is armed, dangerous, and still at large.
It started at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 20, the department said. The victim pulled into his driveway on the 200 block of Wiltshire Road in Penn Wynne section to find the suspect waiting in his driveway, police wrote.

A Fairfield County man who was a person of interest in the death of a 2-year-old boy whose body was found buried in a city park has been captured.
Edgar Ismalej-Gomez, age 26, of Stamford, was arrested by Stamford Police in a taxi early Tuesday, Jan. 3, after an exhaustive search by officers who went door to door and business to business searching for the alleged child killer, according to Stamford Police Chief Timothy Shaw.

UPDATE: Police were justified in shooting an ex-con who’d stabbed a Keansburg lieutenant with a large knife while holding a pharmacy worker hostage during a robbery, a state grand jury ruled.
James Sutton, 55, of Keansburg, was holding up the Keansburg Pharmacy in Keansburg Plaza on Main Street when officers responding to multiple 911 calls arrived shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2022, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said.
