Man Charged With Vicious $30,000 Baseball Bat Assault-Robbery In Little Ferry
Federal authorities have moved to take custody of a Bergen County Jail inmate charged with stealing $30,000 from a man he bashed in the head with a baseball bat outside a Little Ferry business.
Jose Mejia, a 32-year-old Salvadoran national, was wanted for a Dec. 28 robbery in a parking lot just off Route 46 and Liberty Street.
He was captured this past Thursday, Jan. 11, records show.

A Paterson resident who'd just been kidnapped was being shown a photo array of suspects when he suddenly pointed at one of the pictures.
The man in the photo, Joel Ramon Garcia, 33, of Paterson, and an accomplice had held him at gunpoint last month during a six-hour car ride to Massachusetts, while demanding a ransom from his father, before releasing the victim two days later, the FBI said.
Federal agents quickly captured both Garcia and Julio Cesar Paniagua, 27, at the same time.

For more than a decade, a laborer believed to living in the U.S. illegally sexually abused a child in Bergen County and at the Jersey Shore, authorities said Monday.
Federal authorities have placed a detainer on Jonan Pascasio-Erazo, a 46-year-old Salvadoran national living in Waldwick, who was jailed late last week.
Pascasio-Erazo sexually assaulted the victim in Waldwick, Mahwah and Belmar multiple times, beginning in 2012, up until his arrest, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

ICE has placed a detainer on a jailed Ecuadorian national who was charged with beating and choking a woman, taking her phone and holding her against her will in Hackensack.
