Support is on the rise for a beloved Maryland father who was left with critical injuries after being struck by a car last week.
John Patton was hit while walking on Muncaster Road in Rockville on Wednesday night, Jan. 3, according to a GoFundMe launched for his family’s ongoing expenses.
Patton is on a ventilator due to the severity of his injuries, which will require multiple surgeries and forthcoming tests.

Toddler In Critical Condition After Fatal Crash Between Car, SUV With Nine Occupants
A 3-year-old is in critical condition following a crash over the weekend that left a woman dead and at least three others injured.
The crash took place around 8:30 p.m., Saturday, July 17, on Route 32 in Orange County in the town of Cornwall.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Toyota Corolla, driven by Helen Rivera, age 38, of Newburgh, the city of Newburgh was traveling south on the dark, rain-slick roadway when she crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2010 Dodge Journey with nine occupants, said Trooper Steven Nevel of the state police.

'Tragic Accident': Fair Lawn Boy, 9, Struck, Critically Injured
A 9-year-old Fair Lawn boy was critically injured Wednesday in what responders all said was a "tragic accident."
The third-grader apparently ran into 17th Street near Morlot Avenue when he was struck by a 2014 Honda CR-V shortly before 4 p.m., police Sgt. Brian Metzler said.
He was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson with a severe head injury, plus several broken bones, Metzler said.
The driver, a 58-year-old woman also from Fair Lawn, remained at the scene, the sergeant said. No charges will be filed, he said.
