A high school senior from Northern Westchester has won a $2,500 scholarship after being selected as a finalist in a prestigious national program.
Samara Brown, a senior at Byram Hills High School in Armonk, has been named one of 2,500 Merit Scholars in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program, the Byram Hills Central School District announced on Monday, May 13.

A high school senior from Westchester has been named a nominee for one of the country's top honors for students.
Christopher Zorn, a senior at Irvington High School, has been nominated for the 2024 US Presidential Scholars Program, the Irvington Union Free School District announced on Friday, Feb. 9.

These Westchester High School Seniors Named Regeneron Scholars
Thirty-two high school seniors from Westchester are among the top 300 scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2023, regarded as the nation’s oldest and most prestigious scholastic science and math competition, the Society for Science announced on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
The 300 will be awarded $2,000 each and their schools will be awarded $2,000 for each enrolled scholar.
The Regeneron Science Talent Search scholars were selected from 1,949 applications from 627 high schools across 48 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and four other countries.

A high school in Northern Westchester has extended its closure for in-person learning after several cases of COVID-19 linked to a social event.
Dr. Jen Lamia, Superintendent of Schools for the Byram Hills Central School District in Armonk, announced on Sunday, Nov. 1 that Byram Hills High School will remain on remote instruction until Thursday, Nov. 12.
