Josh Lanier started his reporting career in high school for his local newspaper. Many — many — years later, he’s still chasing leads for compelling stories. During his time writing for newspapers, magazines, and online publications, he’s covered everything from murderers to mommy bloggers, but his most interesting story is always the next one.

Haverhill Educator Sent Nude Photos To Teenage Student: DA An education support staffer at Gateway Academy in Haverhill has been charged with sentence pornographic material of himself to a 16-year-old student, authorities announced Friday.  Justin Smith, 25, was charged with two counts of distributing obscene matter to a minor on Thursday, June 13, the Essex County District Attorney said. Police Asking For Tips After Man Shot In Central Mass Police in Worcester say a 24-year-old man was shot during a meeting with his attacker on Thursday, June 13.  The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. in the area of Vernon Street. Worcester police were called to the shooting site and provided first aid until paramedics arrived to take him to an area hospital.  Investigators do not believe the shooting was random, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.  Officers ask anyone with information about the violent attack to contact investigators at 508-799-8651.

$15M Lottery Jackpot: $30 Scratch-Off Ticket Nets Massive Win In Topsfield A $15 million lottery jackpot was claimed on Thursday, June 13, in one of the biggest lottery wins in Massachusetts in recent memory.  The winner collected the prize playing the $30 scratch-off ticket "'300X." LJS Trust of Quincy claimed the ticket on behalf of the winner.  They chose to take the one-time payment of $9,750,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity.  The winning ticket was sold at Country Farms, 20 Main St. in Topsfield. The store will receive a $50,000 bonus for the sale.
