Powerball Ticket Purchased In Sloatsburg Pays Out $50K
A Powerball fan started off the New Year in the Hudson Valley with a pocket full of cash after winning $50,000 as a third-prize winner.
The player, who purchased the ticket in Rockland County at the Super 7 Express, 75 Orange Turnpike, in Sloatsburg, for the Wednesday, Jan. 3 game, selected four correct numbers plus the Powerball.
The winning numbers were 30 - 31 - 38 - 48 - 68 with a Powerball of 8.
The Powerball drawing is held at 11 p.m. every, Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
Estranged Wife Sues Former Montebello Podiatrist, Sister For Alleged Murder-For-Hire Scheme
The wife of a once sought-after Hudson Valley podiatrist has sued her estranged husband and his sister for allegedly scheming to have her killed.
Rockland County resident Ira Bernstein, age 49, of Montebello, and Northern Westchester resident Jaclyn Goldberg, age 40, of Bedford, are being sued by Susan Bernstein, as they face criminal charges in the alleged plot.
This is the alleged second such plot the podiatrist has undertaken to kill his wife Susan Bernstein, of Sloatsburg, who filed the lawsuit on Thursday, July 27 in the New York State Supreme Court.

Beloved Hunterdon County high school student Anthony Joseph ‘AJ’ Zeoli died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 15. He was 16.
Born in Allentown, PA, AJ lived in Sloatsburg, NY, before moving to Union Township about seven years ago, his obituary says.
AJ was an upcoming senior at North Hunterdon Regional High School, where he was known as a class clown who was always able to make his friends laugh.
He is also remembered for his polite and well-mannered nature, his memorial says.

Man Charged With DWI Following Single-Vehicle Crash In Hudson Valley
A man is facing charges after police said he drove with a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit and crashed his car.
Troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash on I-87 in Rockland County, in Ramapo, at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, according to New York State Police.
The driver, identified as 58-year-old Robert Rykowski, of Sloatsburg, lost control of a 2012 Volvo S60 while traveling north, and struck the center barrier, authorities said.
Police said Rykowski was not injured in the crash.
