New Chief To Head Darien Police Department
A new chief will soon take over the reins of a Fairfield County police department, but he's no stranger to the area with 28 years of police work under his belt.
The Darien Police Commission announced on Tuesday, Feb. 27 the appointment of Capt. Jeremiah P. Marron, Jr. as the department's 12th Chief of Police.
Marron, a 28-year veteran of the department, will assume command of the department on Friday, April 1, following the retirement of the current Chief, Donald B. Anderson, said Kim Hiffard, chairman of the Police Commission.

It all sadly happened so fast.
East Rutherford Deputy Police Chief Phil Taormina, a man who was as kind as he was courageous, died Wednesday, just months after he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of liver cancer.
He was only 46.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at St. Pius X R.C. Church in Montville (24 Changebridge Rd,). Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover (225 Ridgedale Ave).
Visiting hours are from 4 to 8 Monday, Aug. 1 at Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad Street, Carlstadt.

Police Chief In Rockland County Announces He's Retiring
After 32 years on the Clarkstown police force, and three-and-half years as chief, Chief Ray McCullagh has announced he is retiring.
McCullagh's retirement is effective Friday, April 23.
He will be replaced by Captain Jeff Wanamaker, who will serve as interim chief until a new chief is named, said Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann.
McCullagh worked his way up through the ranks of the department from patrol officer, investigator, patrol sergeant, special operations sergeant, patrol lieutenant, to administrative lieutenant and was a member of the Rockland County Narcotics…
Longtime Officer Promoted Chief Of Town of Poughkeepsie Police
Longtime Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Kevin P. Faber has been promoted to police chief.
Faber joined the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department in 1991, bringing with him a background in engineering and mathematics, said Capt. Michael O'Dowd.
He succeeds Ronald J. Spero, Jr., who was chief from May 20, 2015, to Aug. 30.
A graduate of the FBI National Academy and a former member of the U.S. Navy Reserve, Faber is certified in firearms, defensive tactics, general topics instruction and accident reconstruction, O'Dowd said.
