Extras Sought For Popular HBO Series Filming In Albany, Schenectady, Troy

Filming for the third season of HBO’s “The Gilded Age” is set to resume in the Capital Region this summer, and producers are on the hunt for background actors.
Grant Wilfley Casting is looking for Albany and Rensselaer County residents to be extras in scenes that will be filmed in Albany, Schenectady, and Troy between Monday, Aug. 5, and Friday, Aug. 23.
Those interested must be comfortable working around smoke, have no allergies to wool, and have no visible tattoos, according to the casting call.

Albany, Rensselaer County School Districts Awarded Millions For Electric Buses
A half dozen school districts in the region will receive over $12 million in federal funding to pay for electric school buses.
Six districts, located in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Montgomery, and Warren counties, were awarded nearly $12,080,000 in federal rebate funding through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new Clean School Bus Program.
The program is meant to help underserved districts transition to low or no emission buses without overburdening local taxpayers, Sen. Chuck Schumer’s office said.

Hit-Run Biker Who Left UAlbany 18-Year-Old In Coma Nabbed Nearly Month Later, Police Say
Nearly a month after a University at Albany student from Long Island was severely injured in a hit-and-run dirt bike crash, a suspect is behind bars.
Albany Police arrested Austin Breyette, age 25, of Watervliet, early Thursday morning, May 23, in connection with the collision that left 18-year-old UAlbany freshman Alexa Kropf in a medically induced coma.
Kropf, a Long Island native from Floral Park, was struck by a dirt bike rider just blocks from the UAlbany campus at around midnight Saturday, April 27.

Albany Among Top 100 Best Places To Live In America, Brand-New Ranking Says
When it comes to putting down your roots, these New York locales are among the best in the nation, according to a brand-new ranking.
Four cities in the Empire State made the top 100 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 “Best Places to Live in the US” ranking.
Researchers pulled data from a variety of sources, including thousands of public survey responses, the US Census Bureau, FBI crime statistics, and school and hospital rankings to come up with the top 150 American cities.
Cities were ranked using four key indicators: value, desirability, job market, and quality of life.

After more than three decades of covering New York State government and politics, public radio journalist Karen DeWitt is signing off.
The longtime Capitol Bureau chief for the New York Public News Network will file her last story on Friday, June 21, she announced on X Tuesday, April 30.
