A 40-year-old man faces rape charges after sexually assaulting a woman and holding her against her will at an apartment in Westchester, police announced.
The arrest stemmed from an incident on Saturday, March 10 at around 9:50 a.m., when a woman told the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department that she was being held at an unknown location within the village, the department said on Monday, March 11.

A former Connecticut resident and serial burglar faces more charges after breaking into another deli in Westchester, police announced.
Port Chester resident Cesar Salazar-Duque, age 36, was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 7 in connection with a burglary that occurred at Sage Deli in Mamaroneck at 392 Palmer Ave., the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department announced.

New Westchester County Budget Cuts Property Tax Levy By $6M
The new 2023 Westchester County budget will bring some relief to checkbooks, as it cuts the county's property tax levy by $6 million, county officials said.
The new budget, unanimously passed by the Board of Legislators and signed by County Executive George Latimer on Monday, Dec. 12, totals $2.365 billion and includes Latimer's fourth property tax cut in a row, according to county officials.

A former corrections officer and business owner from the Hudson Valley died on Monday, Oct. 24.
Westchester County native Steven E. Sassone, Sr., who was born in Yonkers, died at the age of 64, according to his obituary.
A resident of Putnam County, Sassone, of Mahopac, attended Lincoln and Saunders high schools in Yonkers, and also owned the Sassone Service Center in the city in addition to owning and operating Sassone Towing, his obituary said.

Woman Accused Of Murdering 2-Year-Old Son Nabbed In Irvington, Police Say
A woman who was wanted in the murder of her 2-year-old son was apprehended in Westchester County following a traffic stop, police said.
Natalia Suero, age 29, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested at 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, by Irvington Police, according to the Village of Irvington Police Department.
Police said Suero pulled over for a red light traffic violation and was subsequently arrested on an active warrant for first-degree murder.
Suero was wanted by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for the murder of her son, Jonathan Suero.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to use another person's identity to cash a check for more than $8,000 at a Northern Westchester bank.
Christian Maldonado, of Yonkers, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 4, by Yorktown Police for identity theft, two counts of using a forged instrument, and attempted grand larceny, said the Yorktown Police.

Man Punches Victim, Breaks Cell Phone At 7-Eleven In Northern Westchester, Police Say
A man is facing charges after police say he punched a victim and broke a cell phone at a 7-Eleven in Northern Westchester.
Yorktown Police say they received a report of a physical altercation at the 7-Eleven at 1949 Commerce Street on Sunday, April 7 around 3:30 p.m.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Quameik Byrd of Yorktown, allegedly struck the victim with a closed fist and caused substantial pain, bruising and swelling, police said.
