Michaels celebrated the grand opening of its newest location on Long Island Wednesday, Oct. 30.
The company opened its 20,000-square-foot store in Hicksville's Woodbury Shopping Center, located at 410 South Oyster Bay Road, at the former location of TJ Maxx.
A popular destination for crafters and hobbyists alike, Michaels sells a wide range of arts and crafts supplies, as well as framing, floral items and candles, and home and holiday décor.

$850K Stolen In 'Theft-Return Scheme' By PA Organized Crime: Attorney General
A criminal organization made $850,000 in illegal profits in a sophisticated theft-return scheme targeting TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Marshalls stores, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office said.
Nine people involved with the Philadelphia-based organization, which has been in operation since 2022, were arrested and charged with numerous felonies, according to a Thursday, Oct. 24 news release from the attorney general.

2-Hour Search Leads To Arrests Of TJ Maxx Shoplifters In Morris County, Authorities Say
Two shoplifters were arrested on Monday, June 17 after attempting to steal more than $3,500 from a TJ Maxx in Morris County and leading police on a foot pursuit and lengthy search, authorities said.
Officers observed Mark Rodriguez, a 36-year-old Clifton resident and Saul Torres, a 68-year-old Passaic resident exiting TJ Maxx in the Valley Mall in Gillette with shopping carts full of stolen items, Long Hill police said. When approached by the police, the suspects abandoned the merchandise and fled on foot, officers said.

Shoplifter Who Made Off With $24K In Goods Nabbed On Long Island, Police Say
An 18-year-old man who has made off with almost $24,000 in goods from numerous Long Island department stores has been captured by police.
Maki Davis, age 18, of Brooklyn, was arrested on Friday, Dec. 16, by Nassau County Police following a six-month investigation.
The larcenies, all within Nassau County began in June and continued until his arrest, police said.
According to detectives, the total amount stolen was $23,406.93 from the following locations:

Busy Duo Stole $15k Worth Of Merch From 14 Long Island Stores, Police Say
Two men are behind bars after allegedly going on a shoplifting spree that netted them thousands of dollars in merchandise from numerous Long Island stores.
Oreall Thomas, age 47, and Shaun Williams, age 52, both of Freeport, were arrested Monday, Dec. 12, on charges of grand larceny, Nassau County Police said.
Officers had been called to the TJ MAXX store in Carle Place, located on Glen Cove Road, with reports of a theft.
Both men were gone by the time officers arrived, but police spotted them a short time later near Glen Cove and Old Country roads and arrested them, police said.

A Connecticut man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for participating in an extensive commercial larceny spree.
Andres Barclett, aka "Coolie", age 27, of Hartford, was sentenced on Wednesday, Dec. 1, followed by two years of supervised release, said Leonard C Boyle, Acting US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
This case stems from “Operation American Steal,” a long-term multi-agency investigation into numerous “grab and go” thefts from various retail fashion stores in Connecticut and nearby states," said Boyle.

Police: PA Couple Found With Drugs, $135K Cash In Morris County Charged With Money Laundering
A Pennsylvania couple police say were locked out of their vehicle in Morris County were found with drugs and more than $135,000 in cash, according to officers who responded to assist them.
Officers responded to the parking lot of TJ Maxx in Hanover where they found Keith Russell, 42, and Kelsy Russell, 31, locked out of their vehicle on August 13, police said.
While attempting to unlock the vehicle, officers saw an unspecified controlled dangerous substance in clear view, police said.
