A 40-year-old man has kept Chelmsford police busy after he was stopped twice within 77 hours for allegedly driving drunk, authorities said.
Cesar De Sousa Coutinho, 40, of Lowell, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of liquor, possession of an open container, driving with a suspended license, and other traffic infractions, Chelmsford police said.

Driver Was On Phone When He Hit, Killed Woman In Bedford: DA
A 34-year-old Billerica man is believed to have been on his phone when he crashed into a 53-year-old woman, killing her, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not released, hit the woman on Saturday, July 20, just after 3:30 p.m. as she walked her bicycle across Concord Street, the Middlesex District Attorney said.
Paramedics rushed the woman to Lahey Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, the prosecutor's office said. Her name has not been released as authorities contact her family.

Speeding 22-Year-Old Nabbed In Wilton For DUI, Driving On Suspended License, Police Say
A speeding 22-year-old Fairfield County man was charged with allegedly driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.
Pedro Jesus Aguilar Madrid, of Stamford, was stopped on Thursday, Nov. 23, in Wilton driving a Ford Fusion for driving 68 mph in a 30 mph zone, said Wilton Police.
During the stop, Madrid was found to be under the influence of alcohol, said Lt. Anna Tornello, of the Wilton Police.
Tornello said in addition, Madrid's driver's license was suspended, due to a previous DUI arrest.

A Long Island police officer is recovering after a wanted man allegedly fled a traffic stop and crashed as the officer stood on the vehicle’s running board.
The incident happened at around 7:45 p.m. Thursday, July 20, in Massapequa, according to Nassau County Police.

A 36-year-old man was killed in a crash on the Long Island Expressway involving a driver with a suspended license, authorities said.
The incident happened at around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, in Brentwood, on I-495 near Sagtikos Parkway, according to Suffolk County Police.
Investigators said 36-year-old Brandon Gillespie, of Smithtown, had stopped his 2012 Jeep Liberty in the right eastbound lane of the LIE when he was rear-ended by a box truck.

A popular Hudson Valley ice cream shop is temporarily closed after an alleged drunk driver crashed his Infiniti Q70 into the building.
The incident took place in Orange County around 4:55 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Mary Janes Dairy Bar in the town of Newburgh.

Three suspects have been charged with stealing mail out of mailboxes in the Hudson Valley, as well as possessing stolen checks and credit cards, police said.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, just after midnight, police were contacted by a resident who spotted a suspicious vehicle stealing mail in Carmel in the area of West Lake Boulevard (Route 33), according to Carmel Police.
