Bergen County Man Victim Of Double Fatal Wrong-Way NY Crash: Police
A Bergen County man was identified by authorities as one of the two people killed in a wrong-way, head-on crash overnight in New York.
George Gonzalez, 68, of Dumont, was heading north in the southbound lanes of I-87 in a 2017 Toyota RAV4, when he drove into a 2022 Nissan Altima around 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 in Tuxedo, New York State Police said. Gonzalez's car became engulfed in flames.
The Altima driver was identified as Yehuda Weinstock, 67, of Chester, NY. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither vehicle had any passengers.

Two men have been charged after police say they were caught with 91 grams of heroin and fentanyl during a traffic stop on I-87.
New York State Police initiated a traffic stop on I-87 in Orange County in the town of Cornwall for a violation on Monday, Dec. 9 around 1 a.m.
Initial interviews with the driver, identified as Ulster County resident Edwin Mazara, 30, of Kingston, established probable cause to search the vehicle, according to police.

A man from Middletown is facing drug possession charges after a traffic stop on I-87, police say.
New York State Police say they stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the town of Woodbury for a traffic violation on Saturday, July 27 around 6:45 p.m.
The driver, identified as Luke Green, 52, of Godeffroy, was found to be intoxicated, police say.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of approximately two grams of powder cocaine and .4 grams of marijuana in the possession of the passenger, identified as Philip Munoz, 47, of Middletown.

Man Caught With 75 Grams Of Rat Poison, Cocaine In I-87 Stop, Police Say
A 39-year-old man faces numerous charges after police allegedly found cocaine, rat poison, and marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
Wednesday, Nov. 28 just after 4 p.m., Rodolfo Castro was pulled over for a traffic violation in the Town of Woodbury. Castro’s interview with police gave them probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants.
During the search, police allegedly found approximately 3.5 grams of cocaine, 75 grams of boric acid (rat poison), and 3.2 grams of marijuana.
