Police in Connecticut are planning to lay to rest one of their own killed in a violent car crash by an alleged speeding driver.
Hartford Police Detective Robert (Bobby) Garten, age 34, was killed and another officer was severely injured around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, near Asylum Avenue and Cogswell Street, when a speeding driver ran a red light and slammed into his police cruiser, Hartford Police said.

One Connecticut police officer was killed and a second is in guarded condition after allegedly being hit by a speeding driver who ran a red light.
The incident took place in Hartford around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, near Asylum Avenue and Cogswell Street, when a speeding driver ran a red light and slammed into a police cruiser, police said.
An eight-year veteran of the Hartford Police Department, Officer Bobby Garten died from his injuries, police said.
Garten, age 34, was a second-generation police officer, officials said. His father was a detective with the department.

Dispute Over Dog Leads To Shooting Deaths Of Man, Woman In CT Neighborhood, Police Say
A dispute between neighbors over a dog led to a deadly shooting that left two Connecticut residents dead and another in critical condition.
The incident took place in Hartford around 9 p.m., Sunday, June 19 at 67 Franklin Ave.
According to Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, Christina Dang, age 27, and Chase Eugene Garrett, age 39, were killed, who spoke about the incident at a press conference Monday, June 20.

A 3-year-old Connecticut boy was shot and killed, the apparent unintended victim of a drive-by shooting, and a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot and another injured during a separate incident.
Both took place on Saturday, April 10 in Hartford.
The 3-year-old boy, identified as Randell Jones, was shot around 2:25 p.m. Saturday while riding in a vehicle near 182 Nelson St., with his mother, his 4- and 5-year-old siblings, and another man when a shooter in another vehicle began firing bullets at the family’s car, said Lt Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department.
