The positive daily COVID-19 infection rate in Connecticut rose slightly, though the metrics continue to improve across the board as the state distances itself from the holiday season.
According to the Connecticut Department of Public Health on Tuesday, Jan. 18, the state administered more than 23,000 COVID-19 tests in the past 24 hours, resulting in 4,264 laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus for a daily positivity rate of 18.44 percent, up slightly from the previous day, but down dramatically from the post-holiday spike of new infections.

The seven-day rolling positive infection rate for New Yorkers being tested for COVID-19 is at its lowest in several months as the state, and Hudson Valley, continue recovering from the holiday wave of new infections.
Statewide, the positive infection rate is at 2.80 percent, the lowest since mid-November, while there are 823 COVID-19 patients in ICU, and 504 intubated with the virus, both the lowest in New York since early December.

The positive COVID-19 infection rate in the Hudson Valley rose for the fifth straight day, as the number of newly confirmed cases topped 1,000 for the first time this week.
According to the state Department of Health, the average seven-day COVID-19 infection rate rose in the Hudson Valley for the fifth straight day, up from 4.49 percent on Friday, March 12 to 4.67 percent on Tuesday, March 16, the highest rate in the state, ahead of Long Island (4.50 percent), and New York City (4.18 percent).

Covid-19: Long Island Infection Rate Rises Again; New Rundown Of Cases By Community
Thirteen new COVID-19-related deaths were confirmed on Long Island in the latest data released by the state, as the infection rate rose for the fourth straight day.
According to the Department of Health, there were eight new COVID-19 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 3,170 since the pandemic began, while five new deaths brought the total in Nassau to 2,992.
