Western Mass Dad Of Springfield School Shooter, Attacker Arrested For Role In Incident: Police
The father of a 20-year-old Chicopee man who forced his way inside a Springfield high school, pistol-whipped someone, and fired a round that blew out a window was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, March 19. Police say the dad was there during the incident and helped his son and another person escape after the shooting.
Dana Dudley, 45, of Chicopee, was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant, carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds, and armed breaking and entering daytime for a felony putting a person in fear, Springfield police said.

Springfield Driver Charged With Killing 'Courageous' Chicopee Man: DA's Office
A Springfield man was formally charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal accident that happened in Chicopee earlier this year, authorities said.
Nazier Grandison, age 22, was charged with manslaughter and motor vehicle homicide stemming from the incident on Tuesday, Dec. 13, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office reports.

The victim of a fatal shooting attempted to drive himself away from danger but lost control of his vehicle and crashed.
On Monday, March 15, the Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni’s Office said that Luis Ramos, 31, of Springfield, was the shooting victim.
Ramos was shot on Thursday, March 11, in Chicopee, the DA said. When Chicopee Police responded to numerous 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area of Springfield and Walton streets, they could not find a victim.

One Month On, River Search Continues For Missing 11-Year-Old Boy
Nearly a month after he went missing, law enforcement personnel and emergency responders have resumed searching for an 11-year-old boy last whereabouts were by a Connecticut River boat ramp.
On Wednesday, March 3, a large search and rescue mission was conducted on the Chicopee and Connecticut rivers by the Medina Boat Ramp in Chicopee. People were asked to avoid the area so as not to inhibit the search for Aiden Blanchard.

Kidnapping, Murder Charges Filed In Case Of Dead Man Discovered In Burning Vehicle
Arrests have been made in connection to the death of a Chicopee man discovered in a burning vehicle on a December 2020 night in Hartford.
On Thursday, Feb. 11, Brandon “B” Batiste, 33, of Springfield, and Calvin “Cutty” Roberson, 38, of Waterbury, Connecticut, were arrested on charges of kidnapping and murder, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Connecticut, said.

Environmental Agency Joins Search Effort For Missing 11-Year-Old Aiden Blanchard
A new branch of law enforcement has joined the search for missing 11-year-old Aiden Blanchard.
On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Massachusetts State Police, Chicopee Police, were joined by the state Environmental Police continued the search for Aiden, who went missing on Feb. 5.
Search teams were comprised of the State Police Marine Unit and boats from the Chicopee and Environmental Police, along with the State Police Dive Team, K9 Unit, Drone Unit, and Air Wing.

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding two missing girls who may have run away together.
On Friday, Nov. 13, around 2 p.m., Chicopee Police said the public’s help is needed in finding 11-year-old Wynter Shafer and 15-year-old Crystal Badillo.
