Man, His Dog Struck, Killed While Walking In Amityville; Victim's ID Released
A man and his dog were both struck and killed while walking on a busy Long Island street.
The incident happened in Amityville, near the intersection of Broadway and Loudon Avenue, at around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Suffolk County Police said the victim was walking his dog when they were struck by an Acura heading northbound on Broadway.
The victim, identified as 52-year-old Roy Mathes, of Amityville, was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His dog died at the scene.

Three years after a man was shot and killed in an ambush attack outside a Long Island home, the alleged gunman was formally charged.
Paulin Cerisier, age 29, of Pennsylvania, was indicted on murder and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the death of Maresse Decherson-Stevenson.
Prosecutors said Cerisier drove to Amityville shortly before 3 a.m. on July 18, 2021, and entered a backyard party being attended by Decherson-Stevenson, the uncle of his ex-girlfriend.

Three men were formally charged with murder in connection with the broad-daylight kidnapping and beating death of a Long Island man.
Gustavo Hernandez, age 38, and his nephews, Walter Ramirez Jeronimo, age 19, and Wilson Ramirez Jeronimo, age 18, all of Farmingdale, were indicted for murder and kidnapping in Suffolk County Court on Friday, Aug. 2.
According to prosecutors, the trio drove up to 48-year-old Juan Carlos Diaz Jeronimo as he was walking in Farmingdale on Broadhollow Road on the evening of Friday, June 21.

Alert Issued For Long Island Man Missing 4 Days
Police are asking for the community’s help in locating a Long Island man who has been missing for several days.
Gregorio Arrue, age 63, of Amityville, was last seen at around 8:40 a.m. Thursday, June 20, on Cherokee Court.
He suffers from dementia and may be in need of medical attention, according to Suffolk County Police.
Arrue is 5-foot-4 and 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, and brown boots.
Police said he primarily speaks Spanish, and his English is limited.

A Long Island business owner has been arrested after he allegedly used customer’s funds for personal use, including eating out and child support payments, authorities said.
Peter Ferrigan, age 56 of Amityville, faced his arraignment on Monday, Nov. 13 for the alleged scam, which lasted for three years, according to the Nassau County District Attorney.
